Formerly members of the Hellenic Community of Calgary’s youth dance program (Niata), we began as a group in 2000 and our passion for dance still remains. In 2009, we formed our own society, the Dionysos Hellenic Cultural Society and have since become an established, steadily growing society which continues to learn and share Greek cultural traditions and dances every chance we get. In 2010, we hosted our first Greece in the Rockies dance conference, followed by two more dance conferences (2014 and 2016). Over the years. Dionysos has performed for Calgary’s own Greek Festival, Stampede Parade, Sun and Salsa Festival, Calgary Folk Arts Festivals, Victoria's Greek Festival, and various events across Canada.

 

In January 2025, we hosted a one-day workshop called Greece on the Rocks, and this October 2025 we are thrilled to host our weekend-long dance conference Greece in the Rockies. Dionysos is Calgary’s premier Hellenic performing arts society and our aim is to explore, preserve, and display Greek culture in its finest forms. We practice weekly on Mondays!
